Bathroom resin

Bathroom Epoxy & Resin Flooring

Resin gives you a grout-free bathroom floor that flows continuously into the shower area. The chemistry has to be right — mainstream epoxy discolours in a bathroom, so we spec bathroom-rated PU systems on a proper tanked substrate.

How we install it

  1. 1
    Tank first, then coat

Cementitious tanking is the waterproofing. Resin is the finish. Both are required — we've been called to fix bathrooms where the resin was expected to waterproof on its own.

  2. 2
    Broadcast the shower floor only

Rest-of-floor stays smooth for cleaning. Only the shower floor is aggregate-broadcast to R11 so it doesn't get slippery when soapy.

  3. 3
    Seal to matt or satin

Matt sealer looks stone-like; satin is easier to keep spot-free from splashes. We show samples of both in the room's light before committing.

Common pitfalls we prevent

Standard epoxy discolouring in a bathroom — solved with bathroom-rated PU
Assuming resin waterproofs on its own — cured by proper cementitious tanking underneath
Matt sealer showing every water spot — mitigated by satin in high-splash zones

Frequently asked

How does bathroom resin compare to microcement?+

Very similar visually. Microcement has a hand-trowelled variation; resin is more uniform. Microcement can cover walls and floor continuously; resin is normally floor-only.

Can I do it over existing tiles?+

Yes if the tiles are sound — we grind, prime, and go over with the resin build-up.
