Natural Limewash
About this finish

Crafted, not coated.

PROLIME is made from slaked lime, water and natural mineral pigments. Unlike conventional paints it penetrates the surface instead of forming a plastic film, letting walls breathe and regulating humidity. Layered brush application creates the signature cloud-like depth, mineral-based, low-VOC and naturally mould-resistant.

What limewash paint is

Limewash is a mineral paint made from lime. It soaks into porous surfaces rather than sitting on top as a film, which gives limewash walls their soft, cloudy movement and lets the wall breathe. Each coat is brushed in by hand, so the finish varies naturally with light. Limewash explained covers the material in more depth.

Where limewash works and where it does not

Limewash bonds best to lime plaster, lime render, soft brick and stone. On modern emulsion, gypsum or dense surfaces a mineral primer is used first so the wash has something to grip. For outside walls, our guide to limewash on exterior walls explains which substrates suit it, and limewash paint vs emulsion compares the two indoors.

Colours, including warm reds and earth tones

Limewash colours range from chalky whites to stone, clay and warmer red and terracotta shades, all deepening or softening with the number of coats. See limewash colours and tones or browse our limewash wall coatings.

Limewash paint cost

The price of limewash paint as a finished wall depends mostly on labour: wall preparation, any primer needed, the number of coats and access. We quote after seeing the walls, and you can start with our quote form.

Limewash questions

Can I buy limewash paint?+

Yes, limewash is sold as a ready-to-use paint. Our limewash products page shows the PROLIME colours and details, and we can apply it for you.

Can I limewash over paint?+

Not directly over ordinary emulsion. The wall needs a suitable mineral primer first so the limewash can bond.

Can I limewash over painted brick?+

Only after the old paint is removed or a compatible primer is applied. Limewash needs a porous surface to grip.

Can I limewash over painted walls inside?+

Yes, with a mineral primer over sound, clean paint. We check the existing paint before recommending it.

How it works

The full ordering process

The same six-step process applies to every project we deliver — from a single feature wall through to whole-house installations.

1. Quote questionnaire

You fill out a short questionnaire — location, square metres, surface type, finish and timeline. We discuss the project together and prepare a tailored quote.

2. 10% deposit to reserve

Once the quote is approved, we issue an invoice for a 10% deposit. This reserves the project and your slot in our schedule.

3. Sample preparation

We prepare physical samples of the finish, colour and texture for you to approve. If the project is booked, samples are free of charge.

4. Materials invoice

Approved samples confirmed, we issue an invoice for the materials so we can order in your specific tints, sealers and substrate components.

5. On-site installation

Our in-house team installs the finish on site — substrate prep, base coats, finishing coats and sealer. Cleanly worked, fully protected.

6. Final balance

On completion and final walk-through, we issue the invoice for the remaining balance. You receive aftercare guidance and your workmanship guarantee.
