Lava
Lava sits in our Liquid Stone range with sitting cleanly between warm and cool, undertones of near-black volcanic, and a character that's molten-stone dark. It frames pale stone, brass, marble and warm-white plasterwork dramatically. Most Lava installs end up on single feature walls behind joinery or rendered façades. Functional black, with just enough underlying pigment to keep it human. It reads contemporary moody in spirit without locking the room into a single period.
Best used in feature wall, exterior
Molten-stone dark reads its best where the light is soft and consistent. Below are the rooms we've installed this shade in most often.
- alcove and chimney-breast features
- rendered façades
- hotel lobby walls and lift cores

How Lava is applied
Lava uses the standard Liquid Stone build. The technical specification is the same across colour — only the pigment changes.
Questions clients ask about this shade
Won't Lava make the room feel smaller?+
Deep shades like Lava actually blur a room's edges, making walls feel further away rather than closer. The trick is to wrap the colour onto skirting and trim so there are no high-contrast lines to remind the eye where the room ends.
Can Lava be used outside as well as inside?+
Yes — Liquid Stone in Lava is rated for interior and exterior use. For exterior elevations we add a weather-protective topcoat rated for UK rainfall.
What does Lava pair with from your range?+
We most often pair Lava with the three closest shades in its family — see the pairings panel below. Beyond that, pairs with marble, antique brass and richly grained timbers.
