Manufacturers quote life in ideal conditions. In a real building the answer depends on wheel type, grit ingress, cleaning chemistry and whether the slab was prepared properly, so here are the numbers we actually see.

Grit carried in on wheels acts as an abrasive under load. Turning circles, pick faces and door thresholds wear at several times the rate of the open field, which is why floors look patchy long before they fail.

Alkaline degreasers soften epoxy over years and strip sealer films. Switching a cleaning contractor to neutral chemistry has extended more floors than any product upgrade.

A thin refresh coat over a sound floor at year four costs a fraction of a replacement at year seven, and takes a night rather than a week. Most facilities plans miss this.

A well prepared cheap system usually outlasts a badly prepared expensive one. Nothing extends life more than the tests and the grinding done before the first coat.

How long does an epoxy floor last in a warehouse?+
Five to eight years for a thin roller applied coating under forklift traffic, ten to fifteen for a 4 to 6 mm screed. Turning circles and pick faces wear first and can be re-topped in isolation.
How long does a garage resin floor last at home?+
Ten to fifteen years is typical, because domestic use is light. What shortens it is hot tyre pickup on an under specified system and cleaning products that attack the sealer.
Can a worn resin floor be re-coated rather than replaced?+
Yes, provided it is still bonded and has not worn through to the concrete. We adhesion test, abrade the surface and apply a fresh top coat, usually overnight.
Which system lasts longest?+
Polyurethane concrete, at fifteen to twenty years, and it tolerates wash down and thermal shock that would end an epoxy. It costs more per metre and is usually the cheapest option over the whole life of a building.
What single thing extends the life most?+
Entrance matting and neutral cleaning chemistry. Keeping grit off the floor and aggressive detergent out of the cleaning cupboard does more than any upgrade in product specification.
