Anti-Slip Floor Coatings
Slip-resistant coatings for wet rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, balconies and commercial floors — R11 to R13 without changing the look.
An anti-slip coating adds measurable slip resistance to floors that are otherwise hazardous when wet — bathrooms, wet rooms, pool surrounds, balconies, ramps and commercial kitchens. We apply anti-slip systems in three ways: as an aggregate blended into a resin or microcement sealer, as a clear top-coat over existing tiles, or as a full elastomeric coating for exterior surfaces.
Where anti-slip coatings are used
- Wet rooms and walk-in showers.
- Bathrooms with elderly or reduced-mobility users.
- Balconies, terraces and external steps.
- Pool surrounds and spa areas.
- Commercial kitchens, food-prep areas and back-of-house.
- Ramps, thresholds and disabled-access routes.
How we specify slip resistance
- 1Assess
We take a pendulum reading or review your risk assessment to confirm the target — R10 domestic, R11 wet areas, R12 commercial, R13 industrial.
- 2Choose the system
Clear anti-slip topcoat over existing tiles, aggregate-filled sealer over microcement/resin, or RUBOFLEX elastomeric for exterior.
- 3Prepare
Degrease, mechanically abrade and prime as required — the coating is only as good as the bond underneath.
- 4Apply
Two coats with graded aggregate broadcast between, back-rolled to control the texture.

Optional post-install pendulum test with a certificate — required for commercial and public-sector projects.
Most residential wet rooms need R11. We can retrofit a clear anti-slip topcoat over existing porcelain or ceramic tiles in a day — no need to rip anything out.
Full pendulum reports, product data sheets, and slip-resistance certificates provided. Systems available with BS 7976 / DIN 51130 test data.
Bulk pricing for repeat units, and programmed installs during fit-out. Certificates issued per unit for handover packs.
Common questions
What do R10, R11, R12 and R13 mean?+
They're slip-resistance ratings from the German DIN 51130 ramp test. R9 is smooth interior, R10 is domestic wet area (kitchen), R11 is wet room / commercial washroom, R12 is commercial kitchen / food processing, R13 is industrial with grease and heavy contamination. Most residential wet rooms target R11.
Will an anti-slip coating change the look of my floor?+
The clear topcoat leaves a subtle micro-texture — visible if you look closely, invisible from standing height. Colour and pattern of the tile or resin below are unchanged. For microcement floors we blend the aggregate into the sealer so texture is uniform.
Can you apply it over my existing tiles?+
Yes — porcelain, ceramic, natural stone and quarry tile all take a clear anti-slip coating after prep and priming. We test-patch first to confirm bond.
How long does it last?+
3–7 years in domestic use, 2–4 years in commercial. High-traffic areas benefit from a scheduled re-coat as part of routine maintenance.
Do you provide a slip-resistance certificate?+
Yes — a pendulum test with a signed certificate is available as an add-on. Standard for commercial and public-sector work, optional for residential.
