Microcement Bathrooms and Stairs in Brighton

Staircases and bathrooms in one seamless coat

Microcement is a thin cement-based coating, roughly 1 to 3 mm, that bonds to existing surfaces. On a staircase that means treads and risers can be wrapped without adding bulk, which is why it works on stairs where thicker materials would change the step heights.

In bathrooms the draw is the lack of grout lines. Walls are tanked first, then built up in layers and sealed, and a shower area needs around seven days of curing before it is used. Done properly, the finish is waterproof.

It also goes over sound existing tiles, so a Brighton bathroom refresh does not have to start with a full strip-out.

Coastal flats and period houses often have tiled bathrooms that are sound but dated. Coating over them keeps the layout, avoids skip loads through narrow hallways and shortens the job. Where tiles are loose or hollow we lift those areas first, then build the microcement up in the usual stages before sealing.

For Brighton garages, workshops and commercial floors, we switch from decorative microcement to the resin and epoxy systems already published across this site. The slab is moisture-tested and mechanically prepared first; coating, screed, polyaspartic or PU concrete is then selected from the traffic, chemicals and closure window rather than the postcode.
